Plastic periodontal surgery addresses all conditions where gums need to be grafted to cover areas of root exposure, aberrant frenum removed or the length of the tooth need to be increased.

In the example below the patient had difficulty in keeping the area of exposed root clean from plaque (yellowish substance around the teeth) and he also had esthetic concern due to the recession. Plastic periodontal surgery was used to thicken the tissues making them more resistant to brushing and reducing the recession.
